Although Sam Hornish Jr. is a champion open-wheel
driver, he has not forgotten his roots.
The two-time IndyCar Series champion, who began racing as a father-son activity,
spends some of his free time bowling and playing poker with friends and family
near his hometown of Defiance, Ohio. In addition, the self-proclaimed movie buff
built a 225 square foot media room in his home to watch one of more than 350
DVDs in his collection.
Like most racers, Hornish enjoys anything involving speed. He is an avid motorcycle
enthusiast, riding his Harley Davidson "Fat Boy" and Big Dog Motorcycle
whenever he has a chance; and is currently customizing his 1967 and 2003 Chevrolet
pick-ups in his 5,400 square foot garage in Defiance. His personal cars include
a 2006 Acura RL, 2005 GMC Sierra, 1955 Chevrolet Del Ray, and 2003 Cadillac Escalade.
